Life at Fractal

Our workplace

Fractal is an open and welcoming place to work, where freedom and personal growth is a vital part of the company culture. Good collaboration between departments ensures the best conditions possible for innovative development, resulting in new, improved and more sustainable products.

Our work environment

Our success is based on the commitment of the entire team and the ability to be open, curious and creative. At Fractal, we want to have an enjoyable, safe and stimulating work environment with a strong team-spirit where everyone has the opportunity to grow. This is why we strive to keep a balanced employee turnover and to offer a healthy work-life balance.

Ethical business

We maintain a strict policy of zero tolerance towards bribery and corruption. All signs of untoward activities must be reported to the nearest manager or through a digital whistleblower tool. Our workplace policy describes how Fractal defines a safe and effective work environment. It also contains areas of responsibility as well as work methods for ethics and transparency.

What does a safe and secure work environment mean to us?
  • We make proactive efforts to identify stress factors at an early stage.
  • Everyone should have the opportunity to be creative and solution oriented in their professional role.
  • We strive towards a positive workplace that encourages cross-functional collaboration.
  • No-one should risk getting hurt or sick due to their job.
  • Collaboration, growth and work satisfaction is in focus.
  • We continuously assess risk factors.
Engaging workplace

In 2021, we started to measure job satisfaction and well-being through employee surveys. The results help us strive towards our general goals. Work satisfaction is measured monthly, on a scale from one to ten. The goal is to achieve and keep an average of at least 8.5 in all categories by the end of 2023. The average for 2022 was 8.0.

In the survey of 2022, we saw that our main strengths lie in team-spirit, leadership and high employee commitment.  We will continue to grow these strengths and analyze how Fractal differs from other comparable employers to further refine our employer brand, internally and externally.

Inclusion and equal opportunities

Fractal supports equal rights and opportunities for all employees, regardless of gender, nationality, ethnicity, sexual orientation and religious beliefs. Our recruitment policy is to always choose the individual who is the most qualified. This enables an innovative and inspiring work environment.

We strive to build strong teams consisting of various capabilities, genders, ages and nationalities. All employees will be given equal opportunities to grow professionally and will be treated with respect.

Well-being and growth
  • To give our employees a clear overview, we have an employee handbook which covers everything from work environment, health and safety protocols to personal growth and compensation.
  • The manager ensures that all employees have a specific role with clear responsibilities and mandate and that they can thrive at work.
  • Employees are given the opportunity to grow and learn as required to reach set goals.
  • Work effort is evaluated and reported on a regular basis at a performance review twice a year. During this talk, we discuss progress, challenges and personal growth. The purpose is to strengthen the growth process and to prevent stress and illness.
Physical health

Fractal offers a wellness grant and the possibility to exercise during work hours to encourage physical activity. We strive to prevent sedentary work by offering a wellness grant, shared training opportunities and by encouraging group exercise. Furthermore, we have arranged trainings in ergonomics and how the workspace should be adjusted in the office and at the workstation at home. We also do regular trainings in CPR and fire safety to ensure a safe work environment.

Social focus areas 2023

During 2023, we will continue to grow our strong team-spirit and good leadership, while keeping the high level of commitment among our employees.  Activities that promote work satisfaction and personal growth will be prioritized. We will also increase our efforts to prevent mental illness and stress.

We have also trained our employees in Fractals code of conduct and our sustainability focus areas. At the start of this year, we added a new category that focuses on sustainability to our survey tool.  The category contains questions regarding the perceived image of our initiatives and efforts regarding social, environmental and financial sustainability. The result for 2022 is 6.7 on a scale from one to ten.
